RSV Vaccinations

Posted on:

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a major cause of respiratory illness, which is particularly dangerous for infants and the elderly. Every year, thousands of older people and very young children need intensive hospital treatment for this.

The new RSV vaccine is being offered on the NHS to pregnant women (to protect their baby) and those aged 75 to 79 years old.

A single dose of this vaccine is expected to give good protection for a few years.

All eligible patients will receive text message invitations this week. Please book your vaccine as soon as you are invited.

More information on RSV can be found on the NHS website. Our staff are also happy to discuss this further with you during your appointment.

It is not ideal for the RSV vaccine to be given at the same time as your flu vaccine, which will be offered from October, so please do get your RSV vaccine booked as soon as possible.
