Total Triage
We operate a total triage system.
This means you can contact us online, by phone, or by walking into the practice. No matter how you contact us, we will ask you for detail about what you need our support with. Your case will then be triaged by a senior GP who will determine the most appropriate time, place, and person to treat you.
Our total triage system ensures we prioritise patients based on clinical need and that our resources are used most appropriately, for those with the most severe or urgent clinical issues.
This means you cannot directly book an appointment without going through triage. This way, the system remains fair and equitable for all patients.
Your appointment
Following triage, we may offer you a consultation:
- by phone
- face to face at the surgery
- on a video call
- by text or email
Appointments by phone, video call or by text or email can be more flexible and often means you get help sooner.
Cancelling or changing an appointment
If you need to cancel your appointment, please inform us at least 24 hours in advance.
Failure to attend appointments on multiple occasions, without informing us in advance, may result in you being removed from our patient list.
To cancel your appointment:
- use your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- using the GP online system – Patient Access
- phone us on 0203 474 6498, Monday to Friday 8am to 6.30pm
- reply CANCEL to your appointment reminder text message
If you need help with your appointment
Please tell us:
- if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
- if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
- if you need an interpreter (we can provide both foreign language and British Sign Language interpreters)
- if you have any other access or communication needs
Home visits
If you are housebound and need an appointment, we will do a home visit. We will phone you first to understand what you need.
It is not possible to arrange a home visit unless you are completely housebound.
Home visits are usually undertaken by an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, who will report back to the on-call GP for support where needed.
If you need help when we are closed
If you need medical help now, use NHS 111 online or call 111.
NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.
You can also walk into the drop-in service for minor illnesses and injuries from 8am to 7pm every day at Finchley Memorial Hospital, Granville Road, N12 0JE.
Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.
Enhanced Access
Enhanced Access appointments are provided at the practice Monday – Friday 6.30-8pm and on Sundays 8am-8pm.
Appointments are also available at other nearby NHS services at evenings and weekends.
