Test results

Getting your test results

As your GP, we will only receive the results of tests that we order. If your specialist has sent you for a test, the results will be sent directly to them and you should contact them directly for the results.

When we receive your test results, they will be reviewed by a GP and we will call you if there are any issues or abnormalities. The GP will set out a timeframe for you to receive an appointment to discuss your results. This way, you can be assured that the appointment offered to you for these results is appropriate.

You will be able to view all your test results, and any comments made by the GP, on your NHS App (or other online services provider).

If your test results are normal, you will not hear from us but will still be able to view this on your NHS App.

Test results turnaround times

Some tests take longer than others to produce results. This is because of the process involved in producing results from images or samples taken and the requirement for these results to be reported on by a specialist before then being sent back to your GP.
